It's lambing time!!! This is the best time of year to visit us, as maximum cuteness is running around just a short walk across the suspension bridge from where you will be staying! We currently have 11 newborn lambs all less than two weeks old (two new arrivals today!) and two ewes are still waiting to deliver. Who knows...maybe they will wait til you get here! Our farm was named after the summer home of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. Trollhaugen Farm means Troll hill, but the only real trolls around these parts are the sheep. Our farm has sheep, pigs, chickens and ducks that you are welcome to visit. The yurt sits under the trees next to a babbling brook. A suspension bridge connects you to the farm area. The yurt is private and has a fire pit right out back where you can grill or just sit and enjoy the fire. The colorful yurt offers a comfy four poster bed, a small kitchen area and a bathroom with shower and composting toilet. This is a great place for children, bikers, swimmers, hikers or anyone who just wants to get away from it all for a few days. There are many lovely hikes, one of which takes you to a pond you can swim in. You can also hike up in the woods behind the yurt. Newfane village is one of the most picturesque villages in Vermont, with a courthouse on the green. There are two restaurants in Newfane, two coffee shops, a flea market on Sundays, and a great antique store. We are close to Brattleboro, home to one of the best coops in the northeast, as well as many fun stores and an art museum. Please come visit us!Bring no sleeping bags; pack no coolers, this yurt has everything you need.  You will sleep in a four poster bed and awaken to birdsong. Glamourous camping, nestled in a shady spot near babbling brooks, on a working farm. Cross the hanging bridge to visit the farm animals. Hike the trails, swim in the brook, walk the beautiful dirt roads around us.

Absolutely amazing little getaway! The yert is perfect for a little disconnect from your everyday life! You could hear the water run behind you, it was so peaceful. We had more than enough wood to burn and keep the bugs away & ourselves warm. We were able to explore the farm and see the different animals. We brought our 2 girls & dog and there was more than enough space! The hospitality was nothing less than genuine. I have been recommending to everyone that hears me out!

Great bridge. Beautiful interior.
We had a great stay. We were driving to Massachusetts from northern Vermont, and we didn't want to pack camping equipment. My adult kids slept ... one on the futon and one on the mattress on the floor. My spouse and I shared the bed. It was comfy for all. There is a cooler, and you can bring your own ice. There are pots and plates for cooking and eating, a gas stove, ... We loved seeing the lambs and ducks and pigs on the farm: Johanna gave us a personal tour. Friendly cat. ... The yurt does not have electricity, which was a nice break from our routines. We used the solar lights and candles provided for light, and I personally don't do well with candle smoke, but the light was lovely. We made dinner, cleaned up, played cards. We could hear the brook beside the yurt. ... Since we arrived after 6 pm and left around 10 am, we arrived tired for a too-short stay. Thus, we didn't fully read the instructions for the yurt on the side table until we were leaving and checking what needed doing, so it was a little too late to have taken good advice and attended to easy asks... and we didn't have time to hike the trails... entirely our fault. As a party of four, we feel grateful to have gotten a little taste of yurt-living and a view on farm life. With a little more time, I wanted to learn the history of the farm and how they set up their compost, and I might have hiked and spend time with the animals.

My wife and I stayed in the yurt for a couple of nights to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Super cozy and the sounds of the brook and the rain on the roof of the canvas were so relaxing. Can’t wait to visit again!
